My Perspective on people

Jessica Mendez
My Perspective

My perspective on people has changed since I was younger and including myself. When I was younger I thought I was perfect. Therefore, when I would see people do something I wouldn’t do then I would look down upon them. I never gave anyone any chances. I would just simply stop talking to them or just talk to them less. For instance, if you burped in public it was because I thought you had no shame and I thought you were a bad person all around due to one thing. Also, if one person didn’t do their work for school and simply got F’s in report cards; to me you were a bad person and just didn’t care.
This simply changed when I started working at the age 13 in The Tutoring Center where I worked “behind the scenes.” I worked with students that had bad grades but when I got to know them, they had family problems or they found the work to be too easy and felt like they didn’t need to do the work. Its not only students, but people in general. Before I was short tempered with the most ridiculous comments or by their actions. If I saw someone do something to a friend, I would get upset or if they made a comment.
Now I simply “just don’t care.” In the sense where if it doesn’t affect me or my family then I don’t care. I have other things to worry about such as my health, school and work and I should have to get worked up or get stressed for something or someone that doesn’t affect me. I now have patience with people and kids. I am much more understanding as well especially since I have been “behind the scenes.”

  2. Sometimes I catch myself thinking bad thoughts about people when they do things I wouldn't do. However, I don't know how they were braught up or how their life is. I have to remind myself that we are all humans. But sometimes certain things do still irritate me.

  4. I think we still kinda judge in our own heads we just don't say anything. It's true if it doesnt affect you or your family then it shouldn't be an issue, and you should not get bothered by it.

  5. I think at a young age we all have been a little judgmental towards other people. Then we realize that life is too short and sometimes people have hardships they have gone through that makes them the way they are. I try to keep an open mind towards everything and everyone. It makes life a whole lot more interesting and fun. Thankyou for sharing your blog!

  6. I think not caring and being sympathitic to everyones situations is a mature thing. We really have no clue what each of us is going through in our lives.
